A 12v test light is 4 bucks at the hardware or part store.
always use the correct rating fuse or higher, but not too much higher. Never use anything but a fuse except when diagnosing a short with a circuit breaker.
A tire pump should not blow the fuse, I would expect it to be a 15 amp fuse. The lighter receptacles, however, can get loose small stuff in them that can short them. or they can get a little cooked over the years if a smoker uses them. The resulting tar buildup in the lighter can actually be a greasy dark putty like substance that can short the circuit. Eeeew. I know. Just be glad you dont have that in your lungs!
Chris, why the hostility towards those who wish to help you? JetDoc gave you the only answer possible but you failed to read the answer. THE CAR MANUAL, THE OWNER'S MANUAL has the diagram as to fuses. If you do not have the car manual, find one online. Sitting on the couch posting text messages is not going to help. You live somewhere on planet earth, presumably in a state, county, city, town, township in the USA. The car can move. You could contact a mechanic, a Chevy dealership, etc. for help RIGHT THERE WHERE YOU LIVE. Besides, it took Goggle less than one millionth of a second to located a PDF file for this car. Why are you not looking for the manual yourself? Nice looking car. Is it red like this one?
@jetdoc did you not read my paragraph? I dont know what fuse it is.
It's obvious that your "air pumps" are drawing too much power from your accessory ports. To find out which fuse to replace... The information should be in your owner's manual.
DO NOT use a bigger (higher capacity) fuse than specified by the vehicle manufacturer. That could overheat a circuit and cause a fire.
I have an basic model 02 Camaro Convertible. I was using a air pump that plugged into the cigarette lighter outlet when suddenly it turned off (The car was on so i know it was getting power). I tried with 3 different air pumps in both of the outlets (only have 2) and neither worked. I believe this to be a blown fuse, however I am open to other ideas. Does anyone have a diagram or know what fuse would hold the "accessory" or whichever goes to the outlets so I can replace it. The original diagram in the vehicle is too worn to read. Or, if you have a different idea for a problem and it corresponding solution, please let me know! Thank you!
