Would the 3800 Series II in my 1998 Buick Park Avenue be SOHC or DOHC?

Can't find it anywhere I look...

Just looked it up on Autozone. The 3.8 in the 98 Park Avenue is a ohv engine. That means the cam installs in the center(sump area)of the block, not in the head. The heads have rockers and pushrods and the pushrod sets in each lifter recess.SOHC and DOHC will have cams in the top of the head instead of in the block

NEITHER ONE! It's a push-rod motor, the camshaft is in the block. I have one! Remove the plastic oil filler from the valve cover and look inside with a flash-light.

While not positive, I think neither. Since this is 98 , it was an old school V6 most likely a single central cam in the valley with push rods.

the 3800 is a over head valve, which is NEITHER, its a push rod engine.

OHC = over head cam, but on your engine the cam is between the cylinder banks inside the block. Don't worry its a good engine for that car and reliable and powerful. Also easier to work on and no timing belts to worry about.

Neither.
