Will replacing my Catalytic Converter with straight pipe make car louder?

Weather your state has mandatory smog checks or not, altering emission controls falls under EPA federal law, Meaning you could still get into a lot of trouble if caught, Take my word for it kid, you don't want to go butting heads with the EPA, there as bad as the IRS, As to will it make your heap louder? Not really, the Cat has no major effect on the noise level.

What kind of car is this??! If it is an OLD GM CAR that's one thing, but later model engines and cars made after about 1985 LOSE POWER and FUEL MILEAGE if the converter is tampered with! FUEL INJECTION requires good signals from the converter to make final adjustments to AIR/FUEL mixtures! PLEASE list the type of car this is to get better answers. CONVERTERS usually overheat once the throttle body and IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE lock up with engine sludge and tar. Older GM cars dumped LOTS of converters. New legislation and precision of engines make converters last much LONGER< and fine tune fuel much more precisely! DO NOT remove converter, qs it is illegal and you will just create more sulfur smells and NOT get any improvements in power, or even GOOD NOISE LEVELS! This is NOT the early 80's anymore!

you want loud, youll get it then the rest of us have to put up with that out of balance washing machine on steroids sound. why not a high quality muffler?

mufflers dont always make an engine quieter, they can enhance and kill the choppy sound your gonna get.

If you could hear the racket coming out of the catalytic converter with the engine running you would never think of eliminating it!

Wish you had listed the exact replacement muffler. A Dynomax Ultra-Flow Welded muffler would have been a better choice.

Yes it will but be careful cause theres a law passed that you end up getting fined for it beong to loud

BESIDES PROBABLY RUNNING LIKE sh**,......... YOU'RE IN LINE FOR A FINE IF YOU GET CAUGHT

yes

I replaced my resonator with an pipe then replaced my stock muffler with aftermarket muffler and I don't think its loud enough. Where I live we don't need to have emissions test so I don't need to worry about that my questions is will replacing the cat with pipe make it a whole lot louder or will it be the same? and how would I eliminate check engine light? also should i just cut out my aftermarket muffler and leave it from there or should i leave it. Over all my plan is just to have a straight pipe from the headers all the way to the back with or without the aftermarket muffler, thanks
