Will my 97 mercury mountaineer start with the ignition busted out ?

Is there a way to like hotwire it bypassing the pats system? Or what do I need to do to get running?

I don't know if you have anti theft or if it would detour you from hot wiring it, I guess it will not stop it from starting if wired correctly.

I would unplug the ignition and use a couple of paper clips for jumpers, figure which wire is hot and jump the hot wire to the other sockets one at a time until the starter kicks and then you have located wich one is for starter and then leave the starter alone until you have jumped around to find which one is for ignition ( usually the oil light will come on) leave the paper clip in from hot to ignition and jump with another paper clip from hot to starter and pull out after engine starts.

Is the ignition cylinder busted out, or the switch. If the ignition cylinder is busted out and the switch is intact, you should be able to use a screw driver or other tool to rotate the switch. If the switch is busted out, you will probably have to get a wiring diagram and see how the wiring connector is wired and get some jumper wires to replace the switch.

It could

why is the ignition broken? the idea behind a theft deterrent system is not being able to bypass it. im sure there is a way, but i dont know it. how about fixing the ignition right? maybe your at the bottom of the car owner chain and kill everything you drive.
