Which one is in the best shape? Which one has a choke setup that will work with your intake? Which one has the correct linkage to work with your transmission?
Depends on manifold, Q-Jet is a spread-bore carb, (secondaries almost 2X big as primaries) Open plenum manifold would work fine. Why a Quadra-jet? Holley or Carter (oops, sorry, Edelbrock) MUCH easier to tune/re-jet
I think that it will depend on the intake manifold that you are running, but it should work. A real good all around carburetor size is a 600 cfm with vacuum secondaries. Many people will over carburate (too large) their motors, thinking that it will go faster. You can look up the cfm size of your carburetors by the serial #'s on the internet.
Depends on manifold
Not all carbs will fit all intake manifolds, that is what really matters, Buick & Caddy carbs most likely will not work for you.
I picked up a carburetor from these engines:
A- a 350 cubic inch Small block chevy
B- a 455 cubic inch from a buick
C- a 500 cubic inch cadillac
will the 455 quadrajet work on a 383 without being modified?
any answers are welcomed. thanks!
