To Alan some wheel covers are held on by the actual lug nuts. I know some foreign cars use that system. Its a good system because the wheel covers will stay on. The other good system is when the wheel cover is held on by little (usually) black plastic caps that screw onto the lug nuts. The wheel covers stay on with this system but the plastic caps are easy to break.
All you have to do is take off the lug nuts (no jacking up your car required) with a lug nut wrench. Then the wheel cover will come off and then you put the lug nuts back on as tight as you can. Then you put your new wheel covers on. There is one problem you might encounter. Sometimes the mechanic puts the lug nuts on so tight its really hard to get them off. In this case you should pay to have the wheel covers switched out. Go to a Lube Stop place and just pay for a tire rotation and request them to put on the new wheel covers on and request the lug nuts not be put on so tight.
I'm sure they will be happy to do it, for a fee.
Yeah, but they'll probably laugh at you (especially if you REALLY are a guy)
Of course, but you have to pay them!!! :)
I ordered new hubcaps online and in order to change them you have to remove the lug nuts from the car. I've never worked on cars before in any way. If I bring my car to Mavis Tire do you think they will switch out my old hubcaps for the new ones for me?
