Here are a few other ideas to explore:
A consistent high idle in neutral/park often indicates a vacuum leak somewhere. It costs nothing to inspect all the vacuum lines and costs very little to replace them if they're bad or even questionable looking.
Pay special attention to the line for the PCV valve as it is subjected to lots of heat and they have a tendency to fail with age/use, but it could be any vacuum line. If you remove the PCV valve itself, you can shake it and it should rattle. If it makes no noise and you don't see it move internally when you shake it, it could also be stuck open causing a vacuum problem and high idle.
If you've had any recent weird issues with your brakes (like the pedal getting soft with the engine running for no apparent reason) the vacuum leak could also be in your brake booster if you find no other vacuum lines that look or act suspect. Good luck.
Without knowing the year that answer can not be made with any certainty. Is it fuel injected? If so the computer decides the rpms.Cold weather increases the rpms. But,again we don't have enough information to help you.
accelerator cable is faulty or you need to get someone to adjust the revs
Stuck throttle cable? Idle speed control valve stuck?
Garage can sort and it ought not to prohibitive costs.
My car is revving at 1.5rpms I don't know why it stays at a speed when driving without my foot on the accelration if that has something todo with it I'm not sure, it's chewing so much fuel and isn't sounding good what could it be I don't want to take it to a mechanic if it's something cheap I can possibly fix, I've check car oil it's fine I also haven't noticed any leaks, new battery new tyres in pretty good condition just the revs any ideas
