Please check your transmission. And don't drive your truck it may cause engine damage.

1,,check battery and its cables
2 got coolant and oil in it?
3 got tranny fluid?
4 OH got gas?? I **** you not..If you only put a gallon or less it will not have enough fuel pressure,
5 see your mechanic

The problem will persist until you check your transmition,
Check for a vacuum leak. If your irresponsible enough to let it run out of gas (we all have done it) then your probably dont check under the hood often enough.

A flashing engine light mean to NOT drive your vehicle, you may have sucked some debris from the your tank in to your fuel system. I would change out your fuel filter than go to your local shop to get the error codes on what is wrong.
I ran out of gas, refilled with gas, truck started right up, but had a shaking vibration to it, seem to run rough, service engine light kept flashing, on highway wouldnt go on cruise control, before i ran out of gas, none of these problems occured
