The most common cause of steering wheel shake, from a mechanical stand point, is that you need a re-alignment of your wheels. This could mean a two wheel or four wheel alignment. The other common cause that it could be is that you have a bent rim, or misshaped tire. These can be caused by things such as off roading in tires that arent ment to be off road or running over side walk or other things that may cause your wheels to bend. Going to your local tire shop can usually rule this one out fairly easily and on the cheap. Another possible cause could be that it is just the road conditions you are driving on. At speeds in excess of 90mph, there is usually, going to be some steering wheel shake, even if you just have a realignment done. Hope this helps.
Because you may be on bumpy road meaning that the steering wheel is shaking, but not just that in the truck is shaking.
At all speeds? Have your tires balanced. Is there any grinding associated with the noise? Have you checked your brakes and front hub bearings? It could be your front end is in need of an alignment also.
Front end could be out of line. tires could be out of balance,
You may have thrown a weight off a wheel, you may also have bent a rim (curb or pothole). Sometimes a clod of crud is the whole problem. You need to get it aligned and the needed parts will be part of it. Of course it could be worse, balljoints, tie rod ends. That's what you need.
