not least of which the lug nuts are likely being damaged
is the spare correct for the car?
perhaps you havent positioned it correctly on the hub
for a start I would be removing it again and having a good look
The after market rims on your car have special lug nuts that only work on those rims. The factory spare needs the lug nuts that came on the original wheels. You drive it like that and you will ruin all the studs that the lug nuts screw onto and the tire will come off while driving.
If it were a steel wheel I would say it is bent. But since it is a cast alloy there is the danger it is cracked and could give way altogether. This is what I would watch out for. If it is just bent it will wear the tire and possibly the wheel bearings, but mostly just annoying.
Maybe the lug nuts are not factory as to to not fit correctly. Most spares are only rated for 50 mph MAX, and like 100 miles MAX.
If you spare fails you will never be able to get the money to repair all the damage or getting your car towed away.
I have a 2001 Celica GT with 17 inch rims and 240/50 low profile tires. recently my back passenger tire went flat and i dont have the cash to get a new tire right now. i put my spare tire on and it wobbles pretty bad when im driving. a friend of mine pulled up at at stoplight beside me and said it looks like my tire is about to fall off. i just got done jackin it up and making sure it was on right, but its still wobbling when i spin it. i was wondering what may be the cause of this because my actual tire and rim didnt wobble.. will driving on it cause more problems? i'm not the most car mechanically inclined but i know the basics.. could someone give me some info?
