It may be nothing, just a bit of spilt oil on the exhaust manifold that's smoking off once the engine gets hot. It's almost impossible to clean up if they slip and drip a little oil down the side of the engine, you never get it all off.
Or it could be a leak from an oil filter that hasn't sealed properly which is a problem if it's not fixed.
Check for obvious leaks, that the filler cap is still in place, and that your oil level is correct before you drive it.
Open the hood - check to make sure the oil fill cap is on and the oil dip stick is in place and if so, check the oil level is correct. Any of the above is incorrect take it back to the shop where the oil was changed and raise the hell.
Yes, contact the shop.
Hopefully it's something minor such as oil spilled on the engine that just burned off but it could be more serious and cause major damage if not rectified.
Probably an excess of oil blowing over - if it persists back tp the garage.
Yes.... it needs to checked.......NOW.....
I recommend you do not drive it at all until the company checks to see if something is wrong. I've been a tech nearly all my life. several times I have driven to the customers home to check my work.
I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu LS. I just got my oil changed and on my way home I noticed smoke blowing out of the left side! What just happened? Should I call the mechanic and let them know? Did they screw up?
