I suspect you needed to replace a pressure O ring on one of the hoses or you failed to lube the o ring on the hose prior to pushing the hose in place and tightening the fitting. O-ring seals commonly dry out from all the heat and shrink slightly. They also easily want to roll if applied dry and can not truly seat when you tighten the nut. Lastly I have seen then installed wrong (position) and again leak.
I have a 1992 Honda Civic Si hatchbatch that was leaking power steering fluid since I got it. I was told by two separate mechanics that I needed to replace the power steering rack so I did. I got a rebuilt as the new ones are over $2000.00 from Honda. Once installed I noticed that my steering wheel turns on its own when braking or going over bumps. Also, Ive been noticing a very small patch of power steering fluid on the floor and I dont know where its coming from! its a tiny patch, not like before, but still aggravating after having spent all that money. Please help me out with this. Thanks.
If you overtighten the fittings, you can easily crack the O-ring or teflon seal and cause new leaks. The torque for these is very low and it's common for DIYers and pros to overtighten. The pulling is most likely an alignment or brake issue.
Because something is leaking?
pump? hose?
Multiple leaks are more common than you think.
so is the residual drop left by an old leak that got oil everywhere and is still dripping even though leaks are fixed.
