Time to replace the outlet! How hard can that be?!
Turn off power at the breaker box and remove that receptacle. It has a loose wire. Tighten all of them and reinstall. It is important to correct this. A loose wire will generate heat and could cause a fire even if nothing is plugged into it.
Note: Someone on here said these are wired in series. Not true. They are wired in parallel.
Like seine mentioned some outlets are wired in sequence and it sounds that that outlet is bad or the not a good connection in it, need to shut power off and replace it, I know an electro toon would just replace it without touching more than one wire but I prefer to play safe and turn the power off, If in dought at all you should hire an electrician...
I agree with Ryde. The bad outlet is obvious, but I would just replace it. They do wear and malfunction. Don't get the cheapest outlet for 50 cents. Get the next level up for 2 bucks maybe. The cheap ones are so crappy.
Those quick connect push ins are removable. Directions are on the outlet. After turning the breaker off.
Electrical outlets are wired in series and not only act as an outlet but also as connectors .
One breaker feeds a number of outlets running from the panel to outlet #1 , outlet #2 connects there and runs to another location , #3 connects to #2 and runs to a new box and so on .
If the connection at a given outlet is bad , anything that follows it will be bad too.
Turn off the breaker to that system , tighten up all connections in the suspect box and turn the power back on .
Could be a loose wire nut , a looses screw or a loose , quick connect push in type of connection .
Too many amps are being pulled from one circuit or the wall outlets need to be replaced. Hire an electrician to inspect the amperage load and wall outlets. He may want to check your breaker box or fuse box. You may even have loose wires in the wall outlets.
Bad wiring. Call an electrician. You do not want to electrocute yourself.
I have one outlet in my master bedroom that appears to be killing the power to my entire room. Anytime someone plugs anything into the outlet the power flickers and when they unplug it the power to the room dies. To restore power I have to plug something in and unplug it. Then for the next few hours the power to the room dies and we have to plug something in and unplug it again to restore power. I am not an electrician. What is going on and how do I fix it. The outlet in question has no reset button
