Why does my truck backfire through the carburetor?

Sounds like a fueling issue. Starving for fuel the vehicle will jerk violently as the fuel runs out then gets a shot back into the cylinders. BTDT.

Got to autozone, borrow the fuel pressure tester, and figure out why your fuel delivery is problematic.

If it works better when the tank is completely full, it's almost certainly the rubber hose inside the tank. They are not ethanol tolerant, and split.

Well, your problem is that a 94 Chevy Silverado is fuel injected.

So you need a mechanic.

if you have a vacuum advance on your distributor then it could be shot or the hose is hooked up wrong ! if the advance is not working right then it can,t advance the timing when you give it gas ! hook the hose above the throttle plate if you have a carburetor !

timing is advanced too far or you are running lean

See mechanic so he can check and fix the car.

You have a 1994 silverado with a carb? It came from the factory with TBI. What do you mean"pull"? Very confusing question.

Hi, I have a 94 Chevy Silverado 1500 and when I accelerate on high rpms the engine just wont rise anymore and pulls violently. It has a 5.0 V8 it works perfectly but not when I step on the gas. And one day I decided to open the hood and accelerated it. I found out it was coming from the carb. What is the problem I'm experiencing and is their a way to fix it? I've recently installed a new ERG valve, fuel filter, and Air filter. After I did the modifications the truck seemed to work nicely. I didn't notice anything when I accelerated but then when I decided to turn back to my house it started to pull again. Thanks hopefully I can fix it.
