Why does my thermostat in car go high after 10 minutes when driving?

Stop leak is like gunk to moving parts, pull the thermostat out and replace it. Just for grins, stick the old one in a pan of water on the stove with a candy thermometer. Watch it and you will see it sticking as it opens and closes.

Hi so time to get the radiator changed as the solution used is worst than any white of any chickens egg as that just blocks a hole by solidifying when it comes into contact with air.

the other commercial stuff interfers with the thermostat and water pump as most water pumps leak a little as it uses a carbon ring bearing. so this stuff is just a temporary fix and should not be left any longer than a week at most.

Your temp gauge rises after ten minutes of driving because, well your engine is Running. Because your engine is running the coolant circulates through the motor and cools it in turn making the coolant hot. This then registers on the temp sensor which sends it to your temp gauge. The gauge will rise until the engine gets to the optimum running temperature and then stop there. This is considered normal.

You should try replacing the thermostat.

Try replacing water with fresh antifreeze coolant.

You've killed it using that BARS crap. The cooling system needs totally drained and flushed, and the original leak found and repaired properly before the engine overheats and goes bang.

That should cure the problem.

Half way on a water temp gauge is normal. Don't rely on the sealant as it should be regarded as a temporary fix.

The thermostat is a device in the cooling system that opens up to allow full flow of coolant when the engine reaches a certain preset temperature.

I can only assume that when you say the "Thermostat" you actually mean the temperature gauge.

Now your problem is probably with the thermostat, the real one, not the gauge and this is sticking open and allowing full coolant flow all the time making the engine take much longer than it should to warm up.

Replace the thermostat. The stop leak has maybe gummed it up

I had a leaking radiator in my car and i bought some Bars Leak Radiator Sealer and it did the job there was no more leaks but since i put it in the thermostat keeps rising but it dont go more then half way. The water in the pump is lasting so cant think its leaking water because its dry under the car. any 1 know what the reason could be?
