Why does my car steering wheel shake at over 70mph?

Could be a number of things.

Bad Tyre(s), Slightly Bent Rim, Balancing Out, To Much Play In Wheel(s), Loose Wheel(s), Loose / Damaged Idler Arm, Wheel Bearing On Its Way Out etc etc.

Almost certainly front wheel balance, and possibly weak front dampers. Might be a damaged wheel, but that should show up at quite low speeds

A guess all wheels were properly balanced?

Front wheels need balancing.

One or more of your wheels are out of balance, since you feel it in the steering wheel then it's one or both of the front wheels. If you had them balanced it will probably go away. If not your tires are warped or going bad.

The wheels need balancing. Should have been done when you had the new alloys.

Hi so servicing does not check such things as worn steering parts or does it check to see if the wheels have been balanced.

so take it to a proper dealer of your make of car to get this checked out as it sounds like a problem with either the suspension or a wheel balance or tracking problem.

Maybe get the new wheels rebalanced, those sticky tape weights come off real easy if the guy didn't clean the wheel with alcohol before he stuck the weights on the wheel during balancing them the first time. The tire shop should check them for free under their warranty.

Open the: Hunter GSP9700 website. There should be an empty box to enter your zip code. A list of private mechanics, new car dealerships and tire shops will pop-up in your area who have this specific wheel and tire balancer which is the best in the world today.

Anyone who knows anything about cars on here?! I've got like a shaking in my steering wheel when I do 70mph+ and can't figure out why! I've had it serviced and everything under the bonnet is fine, the chassis has been checked as I had a knocking previous (which has now been sorted), I've just had 4 new alloys as my others were buckled and the front brakes have just been replaced (handbrake cable too). It's done it since I bought it in February and I'm running out of ideas.. Anyone?
