did you try shifting it manually ?try starting out in 1st, then give it gas, go to 2nd, give it gas and go to 3rd and so forth ! if it changes gears good that way then change the transmission vacuum modulator on the side of the transmission if your car has one of those ! also make sure there is vacuum going to the modulator !
If it's not even trying to shift, something must be amiss in the valve body.
probably internal with the band. might need rebuilt transmission. find local shop at ATRA.COM for road test to verify
I have a 1994 Pontiac Firebbird Formula. It has the lt1 350 v8 with the 4 speed automatic transmission. If you drive it normally down the road, it will shift from first gear to third gear, and I can tell it is third gear, then from third to fourth is fine. But if you gun it in first gear, it will just go to the rev limiter and not shift unless you take your foot off the pedal. Then it goes to third again. It is like my car has no second gear. Also when you put the automatic shifter on the "2", it should shift from first to second right? No it just stays in first. But I put it on the "3" and it shifts to third. What could be the problem? Will I need to replace the entire transmission???
