It sounds like your alternator isn't charging, whether from a bad alternator or perhaps a bad connection to the battery. Be sure your connections both on the battery and to the alternator aren't loose or corroded. You might want to get a second opinion on the health of the battery and the charging capacity from the alternator. Usually this can be checked free by some place like Autozone or Advance Auto.

Most batteries if it still has life will slowly build up a small charge in it usually means it may still be good. Your suppose to charge it for a certain amount & then load test to see if it will make it. Just depends on the cells if any are bad. Try using a good charger & charge the battery

Sounds like your alternator is not working get it checked out. Or start the car turn on your lights push up the revs if the lights don't get brighter your alternator is faulty (or the wiring)

That's normal in a lead-acid battery after it has been run-down quickly.

the weather gets cold at night. its a chemical thing

The car died on me in a parking lot after returning from a store. I left nothing on. But after a few mins it started. Drove home and parked in garage, turned it off and tried to restart, but nothing. At one point the dash lights started flashing when it did start, after a few tries and a little wait in the garage. but shut it off again and nothing. That evening after about an hour or 2 wait, it started. two days later, took it to a speedy auto service and battery tested good, alternator tested good. So I got the automatic belt tensioner "tightened" because it was supposedly loose and that was to fix the problem by allowing current to flow from the alternator to recharge the battery. But after that was done, it started fine at the shop, drove it about 10 mins and parked at store lot. Came back to start it up, and nothing. No engine turn over, no lights, no sign of life. Tried boosting but that didn't work. Tow truck came with his booster pack and that boosted it. It worked. Drove home about 6 mins away, parked, but kept the engine running for about 45 mins hoping to build up battery charge, but shut it off after the 45 mins and tried to restart, but nothing again. Went back every couple of hours or so, an nothing again. Tried a home booster pack, that gave a bit of power but not enough to maintain it. Left it overnight and now it seems everything is working again. Didn't try starting it though, taking it back to speedy tomorrow and hoping they do the job that I paid them for.
