Strange but possibly needs a touch more voltage along part of circuit. We may have a resistance somewhere in starting circuit..this reduces voltage from battery . Enough reduction will cause no action on relays etc.

Extra voltage from battery charger that won't drop as power is supplied by transformer may be enough to overcome this.

In any case an technician may be needed to locate and test each part of circuit.

Check your battery posts for corrosion. The battery will not take a charge if corrosion is present. Clean the terminals and trickle charge it.

So I exchanged batteries.. and it started right up. Good thing it was the obvious simple solution. Thanks!

Possibly you bought a bad battery but maybe it sat on the store shelf too long and you just need to charge your battery with a trickle charge overnight.

I have a 2003 Yamaha fx140. I put a brand new battery in it. When do start.. nothing.. not even cranking... I placed my battery charger on the battery and tried starting and it fired right up. Just wondering why it won't crank with a "brand new" battery but will with a charger connected to the battery.. Please let me know what you think.
