If its idi engine, uses a mechanical injection pump, there are many ways to test where the problem lies.
Could be a bad lift pump, clogged fuel filter, clogged fuel inlet to injector pump, clogged injector pump return to fuel tank line, bad injector pump, no 12v to inj pump solenoid.
The newer high pressure Duramax, Power Stroke, Cummins is hard to troubleshoot if it is yours and thats where a shop is good to have a look at.
Good Luck
So you have plenty of gas. Therein is the problem. You should put diesel fuel in a diesel truck.
Glow plugs going bad or not leaving them on quite long enough before you start the engine?
Bad / Weak injection pump.
Water in fuel system maybe .Drain fuel filter . However because air will come in it will take time to push in fuel again .On big trucks there is a pump on engine to pump the air out .Not sure about small trucks . So if you drain fuel filter by taking it off fill it up with diesel before screwing it back on . Dirty and smelly job . Change of temperature from winter to spring makes water condense in empty fuel tank and it goes in fuel lines .
Check fuel filter for water and drain . Just enough fuel on top of water to start it
Sometimes it will start then idle but it will just die. I have plenty of gas and oil. Someone please help!!
