Do some research on them, and remember when you do good work no one says a thing (most of the time) BUT if a shop messes up everyone will post something (most of the time).
Bump stops are very easy to replace in most cases. Why don't you do the work yourself?
Check out the price of the FSM (factory service manual) they are usually $100-$500 and totally worth it because they allow you to see what every good mechanic goes off of. You may be able to find a free PDF version of the FSM online, just be careful of frauds.
Chilton and Hayes manuals are ok, but if you really want to know how to work on your vehicle, get a FSM
A Chevrolet Dealer should have been your first option. They can't afford to screw people over.
If you have an older vehicle, it is imperative that you find a good, cheap mechanic. The guy I go to now is just a guy working out of his house, and I have to drive 20 minutes to get there (in good traffic), but everything so far has been much cheaper (and he does it right away too, none of that "can you bring it back tomorrow" nonsense I would usually get from my last guy).
Do you have any options?
Dealership would be last option...
I took my truck (2000 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4) to get new tires, because I wanted a certain set, and this place had them for the lowest price....
But then they said I needed other work done on my vehicle, and I can understand that because I had another mechanic tell me I needed new rotors and rear brakes too.
However, They said I needed bump stops, and when I checked my vehicle over, they were fine and in place. When the guy showed me them, they were barely hanging by a thread.
I'm almost thinking that they did it on purpose?
I then called one mechanic to get pricing, and he quoted me at a lot less to have it all fixed than they did.
I asked him about the shops I went to, including where I got my tires.
And he said, "I'm not saying anything"...and basically said, "they're not getting paid unless they're turning a wrench because they make commission and have to meet quotas"
He told me, his shop, that services the entire police department, and 800 other customers, was good because they're guys get paid salary, so they make money if they're not turning a wrench.
I'm thinking I need to go to this guys salary shop for all my work now, is that what you would do? I've been screwed over by every other shop it seems like.
