any tanks..
just not any smaller than 1 foot because that is not a tank...
example: world war 2 had a lot of them.
HI CHRISTOPHER, HOW STRANGE THAT YOU ASKED. I PASSED A VETERAN'S CLUB, ( AM VETS,) TODAY IN EPHRATA , PA. THEY HAD A TANK ON THE FRONT LAWN. I WAS THINKING THE VERY SAME THING. I'M AN EX-MARINE AND NEVER GOT TO RIDE IN A TANK IN VIET NAM. IN THE U.S.A. YOU CAN GO TO, todd@tankusa.com - 706-633-6072. IN THE U.K. tanksforsale.co.uk. MAYBE WE CAN GET 2 AT A DISCOUNT. L.O.L. I'M A SENIOR AND A U.S. MARINE CORPS VETERAN. GOOD LUCK !
Is that even legal? I feel like if I didn't see a soldier driving it, I would suspect some sort of attack. I know for a fact that this is totally fake.
Whats your budget
You can buy them (artillery will probably be deactivated though!) and they are road legal believe it or not, here in the UK anyway and I dare say it'd be quite expensive on fuel consumption!
strangely, many years ago, I was coming home from super-AM shopping trip to Walmart, and driving down 4 lane in city, and I actually saw a WW2 hafltrack being drive on other side of street. Guy had to stop, open hood, do something, and then proceeded on down street. No idea how, where, why, but was neat to see. yes, it had the actual tank tread on it like in the war.
You might find salvage tanks at a military salvage, but they'd all be stripped down of engines and trannies, probably even guns.
Most tanks from WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, of which they made hundreds of thousands, were mostly melted down for scrap, since the military didn't need them. So it's extremely hard to find them because there aren't many left!! So to find one in actual working condition, would probably cost you thousands of dollars to purchase, if it was for sale to begin with.
Plus, you can't drive a tank like a car or truck. You don't have a steering wheel. You turn a tank by applying brakes to one side of the tank tread, and then the other side of tank spins the tank in that direction. So instead of a steering wheel, you've got 2 levers on the floor like shift sticks, that actually are brakes.
To turn right, you pull on right stick, which stops the right track, and then the left tred which is still moving, turns the tank to the right.
So you'd probably actually have to take some sort of training, or even maybe get some kind of military licensing to drive a tank. Not sure, but sounds reasonable.
Overall, while your dream is good and fun, it's incredibly unrealistic for you to buy a tank, unless you're Bill Gates with billions of billions to be able to by a working one......and have a place to drive it!! I doubt that normal highway laws allow military tanks on the road.
Sorry to disappoint mate, but I don't think you can. Tanks don't just get sold to anybody, it's just not safe. I'm sure you'd need some sort of license and a very very high budget.
