When I get gas my car acts like its full when I just start pumping and it takes for ever to fill up my tank.?

I have a Ford Diesel and it was doing that. my problem was the filler neck connects to another pipe and it wasn't 100% flush so it had a lip inside causing the gas to hit the nozzle and stop the pump every 1/2 second. very annoying.

I have that issue sometimes too. I have to move the pump handle around changing the angle and position until I finally find a point that the gas will pump continually without kicking off. I can usually find a position that will allow pumping without kicking off. I have never had it checked since I am usually able to find a position that will pump continually. (although, some times it takes several tries.)

Next time you pump gas, try moving the nozzle to different positions.

Would have been nice if you had told us year, make, model. Some vehicles have service bulletins for this exact problem.

But since that's a secret, it can be a restriction in the fill tube or a bad charcoal canister or EVAP system.

Same pump? The problem is the pump, this happened to me. If it happens with other pumps, and is a new car (anything above 2000) there is a baffle in the neck of the tank, that stops fuel theft, yours is stuck.

My guess is that it is a J@p designed car and the filler neck is designed improperly to allow gravity to pull the fuel into the tank very fast.

no dude

When I go to get gas I do everything normally. And when I start to pump it acts like it would when your tank is full. It stops the gas from going in. Even though the tank would be empty. A mechanic told me that was normal. As far as I'm concerned it's not normal to take 20 minutes (literally) to fill my gas tank. it's only an 16 gallon tank. Any ideas? Please and thank you.
