could be ur spare wheel carrier , could be ur rear exhaust box or heat shield squeking around, go round the back of the car and wiggle the rear tail pipe to see if you can hear the noise...

Hi so here is the main issue with old cars WEAR. yes from the day it leaves the garage forecourt it starts to wear out. so at now 14 years old this car most be showing signs of excessive wear on many of it's components. like engine gearbox clutch and wheel bearing anything that rotates or does anything like move even the handbrake lever. so this now old car past it's 8 year design life.

is now going to cost money on a weekly basis if not more frequently. so time to consider options keep spending out on this old one or buy a newer one with less mileage and years.

rattling in back is either exhaust or wheel bearing if from gearstick area loose spleen

check exhaust mounts. common to fail and it can move and impact bodywork .

Right, I have a 1.4 Renault Clio, 2000 and it's manual. Basically, recently when I've changed gear I've heard a strange rattling that sounds like it's coming from the boot. It happens when I lift the accelerator but I've learned to stop the noise by releasing it kore gently, though I'm still alarmed by the sound as it hadn't always been there.

Any help would be great, don't want to spend money on it if there's no point.

Thanks!
