The sticker on the car says 34 PSI? Use 34 PSI.
Don't use the number on the tire; that's a maximum safe pressure for the tire. I don't know where 42 or 51 PSI came from; it doesn't matter.
What matters is that you have the right pressure to offset the weight of the car, and holds the tire in the right shape for the best tread footprint.
I'll repeat: What determines the right pressure is the weight of the car. That's what determined what the manufacturer printed on that sticker.
(Most cars I've seen recommend between 25 PSI (lightweight cars) and 35 PSI (heavier cars).)
42 PSI, or greater, will give you a car that's uncomfortable to drive, and very dangerous.
Use the 34 psi. The people telling you to use the higher are probably wondering why the middle wear out on their tires
i run 32psi on all my cars and check them frequently , that seems to be the normal for most tires but if it says 34 then run 34.

Go by the manufactures' recommended PSI for good performance of the machine or increase PSI for somewhat better mileage while also putting traction/control at risk.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT. My car says 34 psi is the tire pressure to use. My tires say to use 42 psi. Which one is correct. Be aware. My MAX TIRE psi is 51. The tire website said recommended is 42. Which one ? 34 or 42?
