What should I do about squeaky brakes?

Depends why they are squeaking, you can use a grease compound behind the brake pads to eliminate most squeaks. I would go to a local repair shop rather than a "chain" store like Firestone, I think your "Firestone" shop sounds clueless.

Brake grease? Are you KIDDING me? Shop may have gone w/ low quality pads, if thickness is OK, of course they're going to say brakes are fine. Best course of action is to have rotors re-surfaced, decent pads installed, and ask for "Disc Brake Quiet" to be applied. It's a RTV/glue-like substance that sticks pad to caliper slider and piston, prevents chatter and squealing. Good luck.

GO to the firestone manager and insist that you get different brake pads! bring your receipt with you! LEARN from this next time! you are better off uSing the facTORY brakes if they worked quietly and did not leave mess on your wheels! You can ask for a REFUND and also ask which pads they used so you never get them again! ALSO you must do a POWER BRAKE BLEEDING of brake fluid every 3-4 years anyways! Spend the $10 at the ford dealership for this! OPEN YOUR HOOD and look If brake fluid is NOT CLEAR and is brownish, it is HISTORY! Next you will need abs service and eventually need calipers and master cylinder replacements! BRAKE FLUID SPOILS as it ages, just like engine oil, but WORSE! It is HIGHLY CORROSIVE and turns into liquid sandpaper with time and toxic waste waterlogged! Use CERAMICS from POWER STOP EVOLUTION!! Or genuine FORD PARTS from dealership parts dept! GOOD LUCK!!

Go to the auto store and get brake grease. they usually have little packets by the register. just put some on the rotor. not a lot. just a little.

I have a 2008 Ford Escape XLS with 71,000. I have never had issues with the car and it has been serviced every 3 months. Also, every 6 months I have a complete auto inspection. A little over a year ago I had new brakes or installed in the front at Firestone. Since the brakes were replaced the squeak whenever I come to a complete stop. I was took the car back to the shop and they told me it's normal and not to worry about it. The problem is, it may be ok, but it irritates me. I heard that since it's Firestone they may have used really cheap brakes. At this point, I don't want to deal with Firestone and will do anything to stop the squeaking even if they means replace all the brakes and pads with expensive brakes. Please help me and let me know what brakes I should buy and or what I can do. Thus far I have been to Firestone 4 times to complain about the brakes, each time they say they are good.
