If you drove it without oil, that engine is toast. Direct metal-on-metal contact inside an engine creates a lot of friction and heat. Definitely a good way to kill an engine in a very short time frame.
It's toast. Ready for the big junk pile in the sky.
At best of luck you only ****** up the bearings...

It's all over for that engine, and not worth it for you to repair. Try to sell it "As Is - engine problems" and hope a mechanic or someone with a good engine will buy it and fix themselves.
these engines dont do well after you fry them.. you may have warped the heads or even bent some internals. the engine may be toast..
Your engine is ruined. You need a rebuilt one installed. That will run you a several grand at a shop most likely.
I have a 2000 alero. I accidentally drove it without oil. I had the oil changed not too long ago, so I didn't realize it was burning oil/leaking/somehow disappearing. Anyways, I drove it on the freeway yesterday, and it was driving fine. Then, when I got off the freeway, it shut off on me. I started it back up, and it did the same thing at the next light. I pulled over and realized the engine was smoking and there was no oil. The temp gauge was just barely above center (which I thought was due to a leaking water pump that has been slowly leaking for quite some time.)
The car wouldn't start back up until I let it cool and added some oil. I left it alone for the day and now it starts, but chugs and sounds terrible when it idles. I drove about a mile and it runs ok except when it idles. Is the engine shot or could it be something smaller such as spark plugs, a valve, etc?
