What products to use to remove duct tape residue from car exterior?

Hi,

Goo Gone is usually a good idea when removing adhesives. We are a supplier of sticky tapes and if you would like to call into customer service they can help you remove it safely. 262-637-7103

You can try Goo Gone or anything with citrus juice in it. Gasoline works or gum cutter also works. A safe and relatively easy method to try would be try putting some regular car wax on the area, let it dry just like when you are waxing the vehicle and try buffing it out with your towel. Sounds kinda iffy I know but it does work.

Goo gone MAY work, but I'm not sure since the adhesive has dried. It might sound silly, but oil (like canola or veggie) eats adhesives too. When I want to keep a bottle or jar, I use vegetable oil to remove the label and glue used. Simply apply it and let it sit a while. Use your finger to see if it lifts off the car or moves on it, then just wipe it off.

I use goo gone to remove the window stickers ;)

Rubbing alcohol will work. Or goo gone, but I'm not positive if its safe for paint. Try the alcohol on a piece of cotton and rub gently.

spray brake cleaner on a rag and scrub the residue off. Make sure to wax the paint right away after cleaning it.

If it is metalic paint then you can use white spirit /Degreaser. If it isnt or you dont have any washing up liquid and water.

NEVER use duck tape on paintwork. Masking tape or nothing!

I think Goo Gone tends to be pretty safe for most surfaces. I think they even have one specifically for automobiles!

Use acetone if all else fails.

WD40 will shift it.

so last week i had my window repaired because of it malfunctioning. i kept the window up with duct tape and now there is adhesive on my car. the adhesive is dried up, and i am not sure what chemicals to use to remove it without damage to my paint. thank you
