Start piecing the parts together - - form head-pipe to tailpipe - don't forget to get a muffler, catalytic converter and any necessary sensors for same - STAY AWAY FROM WALKER - they last just a couple of years before rusting out. I doubt you will find many shops willing to install parts you purchased - just not happening. You should probably get a second opinion in case you are being told things are worse than they are but after 17 yrs I suspect the exhaust would have been replaced at least once before.
First find a repair shop that will install customer provided parts. Most won't. Then look for parts.
Walking in with your own parts and offering to pay just for labor is like bringing your own eggs to a restaurant and offering to pay just for the labor to cook them. They'd laugh you out the door. So do repair shops.
And beware the shops that agree to do it. That's a sign that they're desperate for business.
That's not usually a good idea because no repair shop wants you bringing in your own parts and they will usually charge you more than they normally would for labor. That would just be a big hassle and you won't save actually that much. The shipping cost will also be pretty expensive also.
I was at meineke and he said my exhaust system needs to be fully replaced... He said everything is rusty and in bad condition and that is the reason why my car is making such a loud sound whenever I drive. What parts do I need to purchase online to completely renew my exhaust system and only get charged for labor. Just the muffler or are there little pieces that I also need to purchase? Thank you
