What is the difference between a yearly checkup and an oil change on a car?

Please, When asking automotive questions always include the year make and model of your car.

#1. In your glove compartment there should be a separate book with a list of service checks every 5,000 - 8,000 miles depending on the year make and model of your car.

#2. The owners manual in the glove compartment will explain which oil to use and when the oil and filter should be changed.

#3. A yearly check-up and an oil change don't necessarily happen at the same time. Mileage and your type of driving has more to do with when the oil and filter should be changed.

You can skip the checkup. But you have to get the oil change.

Depending on how you drive, you may need to change oil more than once a year.

I agree , skip the checkup

only do what your owners manual says to do for your vehicle.
