What is a good stick shift car to start with?

The first gear ratio would be the most important, but honestly it don't really matter much what car you start on its how you get off the clutch to the accelerator when my dad learned how to drive his dad made him go to third gear without hitting the accelerator, I learned on a 2005 Toyota Camry, and I know ppl who learned on very low powered cars and high power, it's all about the start and gear change. Be patent and don't let other rush you when your learning.

I started with a Chevy cobalt as that's a good one to learn on!

subaru. i started in that when i was 14, easy one.

The easiest thing to find would be a pick up truck with a stick if your area is like most. A small one like the Ford Ranger.

They all feel awkward at first but you will catch on to it pretty quick. Probably the toughest part is starting out on a hill without rolling into the butt hole that pulled up to your back bumper. Using the hand brake in this case helps. Practice, practice, practice.

My first clutch was a farm tractor, and the experience was a direct translation on what to do with a car's clutch, so I say any experience at all is probably enough.

I learned on a 99 Camaro. Honestly I don't think either of those will have to much power to learn on, the MR2 would probably be a great car to learn on. On most regular car it will be about the same, every car has a different feel and catch point but easing on the throttle while letting out the clutch is the trickiest part. Once you get the hang of it you'll do it without thinking.

Hey, I want to start driving stick so I can buy a Toyota MR2 turbo or Nissan 300zx twin turbo, but I'm aware that they might be to powerful for a beginner like me. So what's a good stick shift car to start with that can help me move on to a more powerful car? I was thinking of a prelude or jetta gt or some other car.
