it depends on what you mean by the wrong oil. you put in 10w-30 instead of 5w-20 or something like that? you didn't hurt anything. get the oil changed and you will be fine.
Did you put diesel oil in a gas engine? not to worry that is actually better oil although it may not meet all requirements. change oil you will be fine.
sewing machine oil? you're in trouble.....

It depends on what you mean by the wrong oil.
If you are substituting another type of MOTOR oil, then nothing will happen.
If you put gear oil or transmission fluid in the engine, then you need to not run the motor until you get it out again.
unnecessary engine wear in the long run. Just use the correct weight.
Engine damage is ultimate result .
as said, generally nothing as long as it isnt a grossly different than recommended weight .. but ..the engines, especially these days, are designed to properly lubricate/cool internally by having the oil at the proper pressure and flow/splash rate .. over time it could cause premature problems using the wrong oil, but more or less ANY oil is better than running it low on oil or not changing it at the right time ..
i tried putting olive oil in my hedgehogs' car once and it worked better than ever!
Vague question is vague.
