What happens when you mix a lttle regular gas in a diesel car?

i put about 12 liters of regular gas into a 83 litre tank of a diesel car, realized it then topped it off with diesel is this going to be a problem it is a rental?

yes, thats going to be a problem.

acceptable amount of gasoline in diesel is like 4 ounces of gasoline to full tank of diesel - its a winter trick to prevent diesel from freezing.

12 liters in 83 liter gas tank - well the engine will most likely blow up.

As Ezio mentioned, a little bit of gasoline mixed with diesel is a common trick during the winter time but that's something done on older diesels.

Newer diesel engines are less tolerable than that and 12 litres could prove to be too much. The best bet would be to not start the engine at all and have the vehicle towed to a shop where they will pump out the fuel from the tank. Running it with the diesel/gasoline mix could end up being a very expensive mistake.

1. dumb.

2. far from little.....

3. A rental? Oh boy........ Read on. You may have just bought a rental car.........

it will run rough. since it is only 1/4th, it should be ok. just drive it until the tank is almost empty. then fill back up with right fuel. just take it easy, until then.

Likely, the computer will shut the car down.If it were 10% gasoline, i would say not to worry, but 12 liters could be enough to destroy the engine.
