What does the temperature setting on a window unit air conditioner really mean?

You're so right. An air conditioner only a has one internal system. It cools the evaporator fins to a constant temperature. The air blowing across those fins has it's heat removed and comes out at a temperature. When you set the temperature on the unit, it activates your unit until it senses the room has reached your desired or set temp. You won the disagreement!! He owes you a nice dinner and night out.

You should ask this question on Eharmony or some other dating site.. Cause that boyfriend of yours... lol Wow!

My a/c in my room has a temp control setting knob with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 (cool -- coldest) --- by his logic, that would mean by a/c blows out 1 degree air... awesome lol

That o'le boy is not too bright.

You need a new boyfriend. One with a brain in his head.

your boyfriend arent very smart two

the girl had the right answer, he should have known that

This may sound silly but my boyfriend and I are having a disagreement about the temperature setting on our window unit a/c. He thinks that if you set it to a desired 72 degrees the air conditioner blows out 72 degree air, if you set it to 64 it blows out 64 degree air, etc. I always thought that the temperature setting was to determine the desired room temp like if I want the room to be 72 degrees I set it to 72 and the air conditioner shuts off when it gets there then kicks back on when it gets warmer. Please let me know what the temperature setting really determines!!
