What does it mean if I have to press my brake pedal hard even after getting all 4 brakes done?

Is your idle speed too high when it acts up?

Is the engine warmed up yet?

Is there a brake booster related symptom?

You need an experienced tech to evaluate.

Even if you just had a service manager take it around the block to say what needs to be checked.

Without driving it, you have to guess what all the circumstances are and how the car "feels".

Ask where you had the work done, or compare it to another one like yours at a car lot.

Dealer service can do this if it becomes required.

I am no expert on cars, but something tells me there's something wrong with your torque converter. That's the first thing that comes to my mind, but either way, take it in to have it looked at.

if the brake work was done by a shop, then take the vehicle back to them for an inspection

It could be a problem with the brake booster or the vacuum hose.

The way I tell something is not right is that when I'm stopped at a traffic light, I have to keep a fair amount of pressure on the brake pedal. With most cars it would only need a very small amount of pressure in that situation. So if I want to stay stopped for more than a few seconds, I shift the automatic transmission to neutral.

It's a 2006 Nissan Altima.
