Are you sure your engine didn't stall? Your power-assisted brakes and steering are powered by the engine, so if it dies so do they. It's illogical otherwise. Regardless, change your oil!
Usually all of that stuff happens when the engine dies.

I was driving and then suddenly the car's steering wheel was very hard to turn and the brake wont work. And the signs of tail light out, check engine and batter were on. I had to put on park in order to stop the car. I then turn off my car and started up again, the car was back to normal function. What could the problem be? It happened 2 days ago, and I haven't had any problem since. In addition, I haven't change the oil for a long time, and the car is a old car.
