To quote "I would love to keep it the original color"....."I don't really want to re-paint it the same color" ARRRGH!!! WHICH IS IT??? Should be a paint code in the VIN, paint it that color. Or plaid. Or stripedy.
Go original color if the door jambs and trunk interior etc. are original color. That is likely to maintain it's value as a collectible. There aren't that many 68 Cougar's, most were Mustangs so if you have one that is fairly original with the sequential turn signal lights and swing away steering wheel and sometimes leather interior keep it as original as possible. The most common color to my recollection was a dark green metallic. Yours?

so im Getting work done onto my cougar and i don't know what color to paint it, i would love to keep it the original color but it NEEDS new paint. right now its a rusted out cardinal red; i don't really want to repaint it the same color so do any of you have some suggestions?
