What causes a car to lose power at acceleration then accelerate fine?

Sounds like a bad catalytic converter. You can only purchase a new converter as it is against the law to sell or buy a used catalytic converter. Best thing to do is to go and have it scanned to see what codes it gives or what comes up. If you take it to your local Auto Zone. As far as I know they will scan it for free. Get a scan and see what the printout says and call 1-800-638-3446 and ask for ext 1506. We'll see what we can do.

Needs to be scanned with a professional scan tool that's capable of reading MODE $06 data and has record feature. That's the only way you're going to capture an intermittent stumble.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.pcboostcleaner.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Dealing with used parts is the first issue, You can take it to the dealer and have them put it on a analyzer which may cost about $100.00 and have this problem pin pointed...

Ok so I have a 92 Lexus SC400 and I notice that when I accelerate the car will drive fine for a second then It feels like if something pulled it back then let go because the car will continue to accelerate fine after that. I have changed MAF(Used), Spark plugs, oil, air filter(K&N), have changed TPS(Used), timing belt, timing tensioners, water pump, fuel pump, fuel ecu

Will also say that check engine comes on after the sudden hesitation but resets as soon as I turn off the car and no codes come up once I try to read them. Also when I floor it on the highway I stay in place for a sec then it kicks in not sure if it's an automatic thing or what. And engine runs just fine when it's in park, no check engine light or any lights I even accelerate and it accelerates fine. I was thinking if it was a transmission problem or speed sensor problem.

I would like some input on this to see if anyone else has had any issues with these car or engines.
