As mentioned in other posts most places have noise ordinances. Having it loud is just going to piss people off and attract extra attention. With a modified car (especially illegal mods) attention is not what you want. Guessing you don't have cat converter(s) either? It does not matter if your area has emissions testing / inspections, its not legal anywhere in the USA to modify or remove any of the emissions related equipment that originally came on the vehicle if its registered and driven on any public roads.
So say one of your neighbors calls the cops on you or you just happen to hit the gas when you drive by a cop and you get pulled over. Things could go all the way from a warning to 'get your exhaust leak fixed' to fairly expensive fines for noise and emissions violations and a requirement to have it inspected after it is fixed if you ever what to drive it again on public roads.
In most places it is probably illegal. My son put a 8" stack on his DD. The turbo makes it somewhat quieter. When he leaves in the morning and gets on it, I can hear him until he gets about 1/2 mile from the house. He is careful where he gets on it and who he covers in black soot and has not had any problems.
Yeh, you can get a ticket for to much noise
Obviously, laws are different in different jurisdictions, we don't know where you are. Phone the local muffler shop and ask them, or your local police.
I have an 85 Monte Carlo SS with a modified 350 in it. I recently cut both mufflers off because I like the sound better. I am curious as to what the repercussions of this could be legally. Also if it has any affect on performance. Not looking for smart *** answers, just a little bit of insight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
