WD-40 as carburetor cleaner could it catch fire?

Not a problem... it normally creates a flammable gasoline mist.

The propellant is,or was, propane, which is explosive as I found out when I sprayed into a running shop vac.

The top blew off, almost reaching the ceiling. The residue is relatively harmless.

I've sprayed it in my intake to lubricate my throttle before. It just made the engine run a little rough for a minute while it burned away.

Wd is flammable but it had time to drip off, get cleaned off by you, and dissipate. It can be used as a starting fluid when you are flooded. It can be used to protect a cap and wires from water, and start a wet one.

When I was 16 I got a free carburetor that was grimey and wouldn't work on my car so I cleaned it with WD-40 and sold it on Craigslist.

My question is could it catch fire? I Wiped it down with a rag but what if WD-40 was in the butterfly's (inside the barrels) and I missed some, could it catch fire?

It sat in my garage a couple days before I sold it.
