Truck dies while driving , new alt and half year old battery?

Everything you stated says it's the alternator. The alternator quit, then you ran on battery until the battery died. Replace the alternator, get a jump for starting and you should be good.

Batteries. What is the purpose of a car battery? What is its function? Use Google. Alternators. What is the function of an alternator? Use Google. What is the meaning of the battery icon in the dash of all cars made on the planet? Read the owner's manual and find out. Logic, knowledge and intelligence is what has moved a species of animals from its ape origins to an overpopulation of the planet to the invention of self propelled machines on land, water and air. If you do not know the basics, why are you asking here for? Did you know that for many years cars did not have nor needed batteries? And yet, they ran very well. Ever heard of the cars that needed to be "cranked" to start the motor? No starter. And yet, they ran very well. Get Google to help you. The answer is in there somewhere. Good luck.

Take it to another autoparts store like AutoZone and have them test the alternator, battery and starter solenoid.

True as stated by others it could be the alternator has failed, to test this have someone to tap it while you attempt to start the truck. Best case scenario; you get a new alternator. Wost case; could be the timing chain. ( i doubt its the timing chain )

So I have a Chevy s10 94 truck.

I was driving at night and my lights started to dim down and my battery light came on and my speedometer started to go back and forth and my speed was slowing down then I heard some spuddering come from the truck . I was able to get off the highway and pull into a in and out (keep in mind I'm in another town 300 miles away from home) and park it . The truck won't start what so ever so I was able to get a ride back to my motel and leave it for the night. Before all this my battery had died and I took it too a pep boys and they charged it , and also tested as a good battery.

I'm thinking it's most likly the alternator, but I had gotten it bran new less than a year ago. Could it be something Ells or just the fact it's a shitty battery? The battery is a value grade FYI .

I have the money for a new battery or alternator and I also have the tools to replace the alternator but I'm just not sure on what exactly might be the problem.
