Transistor voltage amplifier?

You need to specify the motor power/current draw

Transistors generally control collector emitter current as a result of base emitter bias. I don't think you can do what you want with a single transistor. You'd need some sort of inverter transformer and rectifier combination to step up DC voltage.

I suggest you try in a physics or electronics forum.

I have a variable voltage of 0 to 3.7v that used to control a small motor, I would like to use it to control a 12v motor, using a 12v power supply, what transistor would I need to use to amplify the voltage to power the motor? Also can I just hook it strait up or do I need a few resistors or such?

Thanks!

Examples:

The variable voltage is at 3.7v so the motor is given 12v (more or less).

The variable voltage is at 1.85v so the motor is given 6v (more or less).

The variable voltage is at 0v so the motor is given 0v.
