Do not ask the engine for full power for around the first 600 miles and for the same time do not run at a constant speed but keep the engine speed varying to help it bed in (run-in)
Avoid harsh braking for the first 200 miles or so to allow the brake pads and discs to bed in and complete the process of adhereing the pad material to its backing.
Make daily checks of the fluid levels and tyre pressures to be aware of any early hours failures
Agree with Timbo & Jay . . . follow Owners Manual recommendations . . . take it easy but don't over-baby it: drive it as normal but avoid extremes. In the "old days" cars came from the factory with "break in" oil that was to be changed after 500 or 1000 miles or so - again, consult your owners manual: all my recent ones say to change oil at regular intervals...., ie, you WANT the engine to wear in - if you change too soon or often it won't wear-in properly. And Yes, you want to wear-in the brakes as well: try to avoid any hard braking.
Read your owner's manual. It will detail the break-in procedure as recommended by the manufacturer. I suggest sticking with their recommendations.
Wreck it,loan it,eat in it,pick up hitch hikers, leave the keys in it or have it repo'd.
