Have you checked that the spark plugs are not fouled, that they're clean and shiny? (& gapped correctly)
Is the battery in good condition, holding a charge? Are connectors and battery posts clean / shiny to?
Does the engine turn over fast, or slow?
What is it about cars that we give them a personality or an opposite sex name?
Need more info. . . . you bought a 14 year old car: what did your mechanic say about it before you bought it . . . what does your mechanic say when you have problems with it?
BTW: Consumer Reports statistics say that the average US car will last 8 years/150,000 miles........a well-maintained car 15 year/300,000 miles.
So I've recently named my 01 Chevy Malibu moody.
Because she doesn't always want to start. It seems that about every 2 weeks she has a fit and doesn't want to start...Without warning. I think it's the passlock sensor but I'm not 100% sure. Also it has a very sluggish acceleration time. I believe that is the mass air flow sensor. I haven't even had moody for 3 months and she's already so annoying with this I don't want to start. I turn the key and it clicks over and sounds like it's going to start then just doesnt. Can anyone help me figure this out
