Cheap discs
Running through puddles/fjords causing the discs to drastically cool and warp
Wear and tear
If it's making a noise it's likely the callipers which could have wear and tear like a fused piston causing the brakes to be constantly on and not releasing.
These are simple things you can check at home with the aid of a haymans manual.
You wont really know till you take em apart and get a visual.
First find out on what side is the squealing coming from.
If you got new pads and new brakes than i think it could be a stuck piston.
Hi as brake discs are made of cast steel rust does form naturally. so apart from that fact there is the chemicals used with in any cleaning solution so yes sometimes the brake pads squeak after being drenched in water and yes the cleaning fluids also do get left on the discs for a few days.
these are the facts of life when cleaning car so just live with it.
it could also be a collapsed brake hose causing the brakes not to let go. Car should be pulling to left or right if caliper or hose is bad. Because you said it gets hot. Put it on a lift and try turning the wheels they should be pretty much free. If one is tight yeah probally caliper or hose. crack open the bleeder valve to let brake fluid out. Did the wheel free up? If yes it will be the hose. If no then the caiper for sure is bad. But just for the record if it has gotten real hot and is pulling to one side at around 15 to 25 mph. Just replace cailer and hose on that side. When things get real hot although you might think the hose or caliper is good today there may be damage due to the heat. Best way to do it is replace both calipers and hoses since you already did pads and rotors. If it got real hot you may have warped the rotor and it will need to be cut or replaced again. You will know when u stop from say 40 MPH the sterring wheel will shake when braking. If not hey you got lucky. I do not know of any wheel shine that would make brakes squeal. good luck
5 Months ago I got new discs and pads on my car, and as its summer I took to wash, polish & wax my car. I also thought 'lets get rid of that brake dust' as its very unsightly. So I went to Halfords and picked up ''wonderwheels'' in a spray bottle with a brush for agitating the spray when its on the alloys.
The alloys cleaned up very nicely and I am very happy with them, though I drove my car yesterday for the first day since cleaning them and there's a horrible squeak/squealing noise coming from what I believe are my discs.
After a short trip the discs were extremely hot which makes me believe they have been rubbing off the pads creating that noise and heat. Could this be because the spray got onto the discs and have corroded them?
Most websites I have looked at say wheel cleaners shouldn't do this though there is one that says it could. I am going to take it to my friends garage next week to get it seen to, though just checking if anyone has any information or ideas on this? Don't want a huge surprise bill, id much rather be expecting it!
Thanks in advance folks.
