Soft clutch won't shift?

The slave cylinder needs bleeding. There's air in the system. Air compresses, the fluid doesn't. You have to get all of the air out. That type of throw out bearing can be a real hassle to bleed. Check with your auto parts and see if they have a vacuum type bleeder you can rent/borrow. It may be easier to pull the truck to your local machanic and get him to do it. Those can be tough to bleed. Good luck.

Sounds like you didn't bleed it After. Ford used Dot 3 brake fluid for the model and year Providing everything else was done correctly during the install bleeding it should fix the issue

Hope it helps

I am not certiain I understand the cranking problem, but it does sound like you have air in the line and need to bleed it, Just like bleeding brakes

i recently swapped the clutch and the slave cylinder for new ones only to find my pedal is soft almost like it's not connected to anything but still rises up, when i crank it in neutral it runs but will not shift to any gear, will shift in gear when not cranked. im thinking the clutch isnt fully engaging or disengaging thats why it wont crank in gear because the clutch isnt going down. how do i fix this? tutorials are a plus
