So my car keeps breaking down and making a loud deranged screech. Anyone know how to fix the problem?

Seriously, we need more information. Make, model, and year mean a lot because no car is made to do that and something is wrong with your specific car. We also need to know how often this has happened, what exactly happens when it breaks down that way (engine shuts off suddenly, maybe?) and what it takes to get it going again.

But here is my stab in the dark. I suspect the loud, deranged screech is a belt - serpentine if your car has one - that is trying to turn something that does not want to turn. The list includes alternator, power steering pump, air conditioner, tensioner, and idler pulley. You can get familiar with the belt(s) under the hood and the pulleys they ride on. When the screeching starts, look for one of those pulleys not turning. You can also verify the screeching does not stop when you turn the A/C off. If it does stop, you need to have an A/C professional check it out. I hope you have not tried to recharge the system yourself recently - overcharging damages the compressor and in its worst condition causes the symptoms you have.

Sorry, my experience is only with ranged screeches. Deranged ones totally different

Earplugs.

yes more info please. also be sure your harmonic balancer rubber has not broken and it is slipping around crankshaft. But it does sound like a serp belt to mee too.
