Small car in big engine ?

The smaller carburetor will not only save fuel, you will get better low speed throttle response.

The smaller carb will help, but it's all in your right foot. If you miss the power & constantly push the car to make-up for the lost power, then you'll probably lose mileage.

Well, check your mileage. ARE you saving gas? Possible that you are driving with foot farther into throttle to maintain past performance, and are actually getting worse mileage. Now you're going to have to re-jet 4k carb. to approximate stock carb. performance. Go with correct carburetor for engine.

It is.

i've got mitsubishi galant '91, 1.8cc engine (cyclone). i've recently changed my carb because the old one is already old and not doing its job anymore. My mechanic told me that if i wanna save gas, buy a smaller carb but it will lessen the HP. So i bought a smaller carb (dont know if youre familiar with toyota 4k carb) and it works fine but i can feel a loss in HP.

am i really saving gas ?

should i buy a carb for a 1.8cc engine and not the smaller ones ?
