Shower drain clogged! Need help :(?

For hair in shower drains I have not found anything that works except the two-part foaming drain cleaners, like the one in the source. They are identifiable by having two cylinders in a single package. The foam dissolves hair that is stuck to parts a gel or liquid never reach. It is about $5 at supermarkets.

Bleach does nothing at all to hair.

Like shannon said, you should try using Draino. It is powerful, but safe on pipes. If that doesn't work, try using a clog blaster, which you can buy at a hardware store. You attatch it to the end of a hose, stick it in the drain as far as possible, and then turn on the water at full blast and leave it on for 5 minutes. I would repeat this at least once or twice. Make sure the clog blaster is all the way in the drain or it will explode.

Go buy a bottle of DrainO. It'll help dissolve anything in the pipes. It is very powerful, so please follow the directions, wear gloves and glasses. It has helped my family in some pretty bad situations.

I will assume you're in the city, but if you're on a septic tank and you're having that problem, it needs draining.

Dump a couple of cups of bleach down the drain. Let it sit for 30 minutes and run hot water. Done.

got a wet - vac ??....it does wonders for clogs...it and some HOT water...suck the water out of the drain a few times................. better, safer, cheaper than drain cleaner

Hi. For the past week or so, my drain has been draining slower and slower. I was stupid in not seeking assistance earlier, and it was a mistake that bit back. Today, water has been going down exceptionally slow. I decided to take the cover off the side of the bathtub in an attempt to remove the hair that may have had blocked the drain.

Now, before I get into detain on what I did, I need to describe my odd bathtub drain. At the top [of the drain] there is a large piece of something (most likely a trip lever) that won't allow me to push any type of snake or closet hanger down to remove any hair. On the front part of the tub, there seems to be a trip lever cover plate without the actual lever. Instead, its a solid plate with two screws and the slit on the bottom.

So I took off the plate and stuck the closet hanger down, pulling out a good amount of hair until I couldn't feel / pull anymore out.

I don't have a plunger and I have no way to seek professional help. To tell you the truth I'm only a 14 year old. My mom got angry at me and my sisters decision to not use the net to prevent hair from clogging it , and I completely agree it was our fault. She then proceeded to tell us that her paying for everything [that we cause] will only lead us to care less about the malpractice used on devices around the home. So now it's up to me to figure out a way to fix the drain. How?
