Should my mechanic fix it again for free?

If the teeth on the flywheel are worn, they will damage the teeth on the new starter. A mechanic should check the teeth on the flywheel before replacing a starter. However, it he didn't and the worn flywheel teeth are the cause, he's not obligated to put in a new flywheel for free. But after replacing the flywheel on your dime, he should give you a new starter out of his pocket since he missed the worn teeth on the first go around.

Take it back for a free fix. A good mechanic appreciates the chance to correct it if it was his fault. He probably did not tighten the mounting bolts tight enough and the starter moved.

call them and explain this to them. they will tell you yes or no for this answer or give you a third option as in check it and if it is their fault they fix for free and if not you pay. you will not truly know till you call them and explain this problem and talk to the boss not the mechanic of this place

That will be up to your mechanic and what the problem is.

i have a 1967 chevelle that i brought to my mechanic to fix the grinding sound my starter is making. i got it back and it sounded and started fine. then 2 weeks later it started making that noise again. should my mechanic fix it or do i have to pay for it again to get it fixed?
